13 April, the main stage of UNESCO Headquarters hosted a gala performance of RUDN students from European, Asian, African, Middle Eastern and Latin American countries who showed the richness of cultures.

The performance was opened by Irina Bokova, UNESCO Secretary General. RUDN Rector Vladimir Filippov addressed the audience and thanked UNESCO for joint preparation for the performance.

The name of the program “Discover the World in One University” repeats the new slogan of the University. 90 minutes the audience were enjoying folklore numbers, pop and academic vocal, dances and drums. The event united RUDN graduates of different years. The concert in UNESCO Headquarters became a good reason to meet after many years and take pictures on the background of the new University logo.

The preparation for the concert was very long, it started in Russia and was proceeded by two days of intensive rehearsals in Paris. Before the concert Vladimir Filippov addressed the artists wishing them not to worry and imagine that they were not in UNESCO but back in Russia in RUDN on the stage they are used to. The concert hall was full, the audience making videos of the concert and applauding. The performance was broadcast in HD format on UNESCO and RUDN web-sites and also on Instagram.

The main idea of the concert was RUDN mission — Uniting by knowledge people of different cultures RUDN creates leaders who make the world better. These words go along the the main aims of UNESCO. Students get high quality education, live in the atmosphere of tolerance and every day practice intercultural dialogue in class and on campus. The idea that we are all different but equal is an important part of education. RUDN students treat cultures and traditions with a lot of respect, knowing intercultural communication rules in a multinational team.

The concert was organized by Permanent Delegation of the Russian Federation to UNESCO, with the support of UNESCO and participation of Peoples’ friendship university of Russia.
