III place, “Theory of Neurosurgery”:

III place, "Endovideosurgery":
- Sheriff Al-Khoury;
- Konstantin Dzampaev;
- Daniel Grosu.
Before going to the operating room, each team received a medical card with information about the patient and indications for surgical intervention. Based on these data, the students needed to perform an operation. The future doctors were evaluated by the professional surgeons. They asked the students questions and watched the operation.
“Thoracic surgery deals with the treatment of chest diseases, like lung cancer, pneumothorax, emphysema, chest trauma, etc. At the Olympiad, we had to perform a tracheal resection and anastomosis, which our team, according to the judge, did flawlessly. It was not quite difficult. We had little suture material and had to use it sparingly and economically. Just like in a real operating room!” said Amatuni Badoyan, “General medicine”, 5th year.
“Endovideosurgery specializes in operations with minimal damage to the patient’s tissues: through small incisions on the patient’s body, with endoscopic equipment introduced into the operated area. This shortens the postoperative recovery period. At the Olympiad, we had to perform a laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair on a live pig. We were a little fussy at this stage, which is why we lost time. After the Olympiad, I decided that I wanted to improve my knowledge of theory. Everything is fine with my surgical skills, because I love to operate, and knowledge must always be improved,” said Sheriff Al-Khoury, “General medicine”, 5th year.
RUDN University was represented at the Olympiad by teams of students of “RUDN SURGEONS” professional student association.
