Shoulder-shouldered with students: University management discussed burning issues with students
One of the main issues of the meeting was the new building of the hostel, the construction of which will be completed shortly - who will live there and on what basis will the selection of students take place.
“The new dorm is for excellent students who will live observing the international accommodation principle. This means that a room will be shared by representatives from different countries. There is a special student and staff commission which will consider students’ applications” said Alexander Gladush, Vice-Rector for work with students. Students also mentioned the new cloakroom in the main building. Large, comfortable and beautiful, but difficult to access for students on wheelchairs. According to Anatoliy Kirichuk, head of the economic department of the RUDN University, the construction of an elevator or ramp to the cloakroom on the ground floor in the Main building is not envisaged, but there is a cloakroom for wheelchair students near the security.
The meeting addressed the issue of attracting talented young people from around the world to the University. Rector of the Peoples' Friendship University Vladimir Filippov noted that the University has created a search system for talented applicants. This system includes specialized classes in a number of countries in Latin America and Africa. Pupils participate in competitions and the best of them become RUDN students.
The next point of discussion was the Telecommunication Educational Information System (TEIS) and the prospect of creating a mobile application. Igor Vasilyuk, Head of the Information Technology Support, Low Power and Telecommunication Systems Department, said: “TEIS is a new system. We are constantly working to improve it. We hope that soon the launch of the mobile application will be possible. "
Finally students asked questions about the menu in the cafeteria - whether the number of dietary dishes will increase. “We take into account the wishes of our clients, therefore, cook both high-calorie and dietary dishes. Today, we are developing even more dietary meals so that there are at least ten of them every day,” said Alla Gumerova, Director of Catering.
Such meetings have long become a tradition that helps to establish understanding and make life of RUDN better and more comfortable.
RUDN University staff and alumni received state and departmental awards at the State Kremlin Palace during a festive concert in honor of RUDN 65th anniversary.
An architectural-landscape project by a 5th-year student of RUDN has been shortlisted for the annual International Professional ADD AWARDS 2024 for architects, designers, and developers in the “Urban Environment” category.
RUDN University employees’ work and contribution to the development of the university cannot go unappreciated. The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia recognizes talented university employees and present them with various departmental and state awards.
