Student international academic conference "Languages and Cultures: prospects for development in the 21st century" in foreign languages will be held on November 16, 2023 Student international academic conference with international participation in foreign languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Persian) with the participation of teachers and students of foreign languages will contribute to the development of general and special professional competencies of the specialists - translators in the field of professional communication through the combination of language and professional training. Besides, it will help to achieve an optimal balance of fundamental and applied knowledge in the sphere of foreign language and students' main specialization, activation of scientific-creative and scientific-practical work with students. The aim of the academic conference is to discuss the prospects of development of foreign languages and the countries of the studied languages in the 21st century, to promote the competitiveness of RUDN graduates in the labor market by achieving a new quality of systematic foreign language training. The objectives of the academic conference: - to promote the connection of language and professional training in students' activities; - to form students' competences in demand on the labor market; - to motivate students to study foreign languages, to stimulate the initiative of teachers and students, to activate their scientific work; - to promote the implementation of individual educational trajectories, helping to achieve student autonomy, independence, to reveal the creative potential of students and teachers. During the conference the following topics will be discussed (in foreign languages): - European and oriental languages in the conditions of globalization: peculiarities of functioning, prospects of development and interaction; - globalization of the English language and prospects of development of other national languages; - Westernization and export of Western values; - individualism, democracy and freedom; - systemic crisis in developed countries; - dynamics of development of civilizations; - human rights; -social modernization; - increasing social polarization; - anti-globalization; - fundamentalism, radical movements, terrorism; - prospects for the development of international and regional organizations; - confrontation between the West and other civilizations. The academic conference will be attended by teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages of RUDN university, students of the RUDN university language program "Translator in the sphere of professional communication", as well as students of other Russian and foreign universities. Working languages of the conference: English, German, Spanish, French, Arabic, Chinese, Persian. In order to participate in the conference and publish an article, it is necessary to send a file with the article and Registration form to the Organizing Committee of the conference by October 20, 2023 by e-mail at publikatsi@mail.ru with the subject "Student Conference" . Students' articles should be coordinated with foreign language advisors. The file with the article is accompanied by a file with the reference apparatus of the article, including: - registration form - author's note in Russian and English, which specifies: Full name of the author(s), official name of the place of work/study (department, position, academic degree, number of the study group according to the rubric of the academic section), as well as data for contacting the author(s) - phone number, e-mail address. ARTICLE FORMATTING REQUIREMENTS (a template of article formatting is attached to the information letter) The text of the article should not exceed 4 pages (A4 format). The text is typed in MS WORD and above (Windows xp), Times New Roman font, font size - 12, spacing between paragraphs - 1.0; margins - mirror, 20 mm, paragraph indent -1.25, width alignment. Pages are not numbered, page footnotes are not allowed. On the right side, the author's surname and initials are indicated in Russian in lower case bold letters (size 12). Below them, without skipping a line, lowercase letters (font size 12, right-alignment) indicate the academic degree and position of the author, the name of the organization, city, country. If the author is a student, the official number of the study group is indicated. The next line is skipped. The title of the article is given in capital ("big" letters) bold font 12, center alignment, first in a foreign language, then the title of the article in Russian is given under it without skipping a line. The next line is skipped. Then from the "red line" (with a paragraph indent) follows the abstract in Russian language of 3-5 lines in 12 point font, spacing 1.0 (the word "Abstract" is bold and followed by a colon; then follow 6-8 key words in Russian, the phrase "Keywords" is bold and followed by a colon; each key word is separated from the other by a semicolon.
